Superworms (or Zophobas morio ) are larvae of a beetle of the genus Tenebrio , often used as food for insectivorous reptiles. Larger than classic mealworms, they are about 4 to 5 cm long and are rich in protein, fats and other essential nutrients.
Although superworms are a good source of energy, their fat content is relatively high, meaning they should be fed in moderation to avoid obesity, especially in smaller reptiles. They are particularly suitable for larger reptiles such as adult lizards, geckos, and some types of snakes. Like other insects, it is recommended to feed them before feeding them to reptiles to maximize their nutritional value.
