The Mainland chahoua gecko , or chahoua gecko, is native to the mainland of New Caledonia. Compared to the island form, it is generally larger , with a more robust frame and often more varied colors, ranging from green to brown with more pronounced patterns.
 This gecko is valued for its calm temperament and ability to adapt to captive environments , in addition to its textured, moss-like skin, providing excellent camouflage.
